Advantages of FRP:
The specific gravity of FRP is usually 1.8-2.1, which is 1 / 4-1 / 5 of that of steel, which is higher than the specific strength of steel, cast-in-place and plastic. The thermal expansion coefficient of FRP is roughly the same as that of steel, and the thermal conductivity is only 0.5% of that of steel.
FRP containers and FRP storage tanks are resistant to chemical corrosion and have long service life: FRP has special corrosion resistance. When storing corrosive media, FRP shows incomparable advantages over other materials and can resist a variety of acids, alkalis, salts and organic solvents.
The design flexibility of FRP container and FRP storage tank is large, and the structural performance of tank wall is excellent: fiber wound FRP can change the resin system or reinforcement materials to the physical and chemical properties of high-speed FRP storage tank and non-standard devices, so as to meet the needs of different media and working conditions. Through the structure and design of structural layer thickness, winding angle and wall thickness, the bearing capacity of the tank body is adjusted to make FRP storage tanks and non-standard devices with different pressure levels or some special properties, which can not be compared with isotropic metal materials.
FRP has the following characteristics:
(1) It is light and high-strength, with a relative density of 1.5 ~ 2.0, which is only 1 / 4 ~ 1 / 5 of that of carbon steel, but the tensile strength is close to or even higher than that of carbon steel, and the specific strength can be compared with that of high-grade alloy steel. Therefore, it has excellent results in aviation, rockets, spacecraft, high-pressure vessels and other products that need to reduce self weight. The tensile, bending and compressive strength of some epoxy FRP can reach more than 400MPa. See Table 1-1 for the density, strength and specific strength of some materials.
(2) Good corrosion resistance. FRP is a good corrosion-resistant material. It has good resistance to atmosphere, water, acid, alkali, salt of general concentration, as well as a variety of oils and solvents. It has been applied to all aspects of chemical anti-corrosion and is replacing carbon steel, stainless steel, wood, non-ferrous metals and so on.
(3) Good electrical performance is an excellent insulating material, which is used to make insulators. It can still protect good dielectric at high frequency. With good microwave transmission, it has been widely used in radar radome.
(4) FRP has good thermal performance and low thermal conductivity. It is 1.25 ~ 1.67kj / (m · h · K) at room temperature, only 1 / 100 ~ 1 / 1000 of metal. It is an excellent thermal insulation material. Under the condition of instantaneous ultra-high temperature, it is an ideal thermal protection and ablation resistant material, which can protect the spacecraft from the scouring of high-speed airflow above 2000 ℃.
(5) Good designability ① various structural products can be designed flexibly according to the needs to meet the use requirements, which can make the products have good integrity. ② Materials can be fully selected to meet the performance of products, such as corrosion-resistant, instantaneous high temperature resistant, products with special high strength in a certain direction, good dielectric, etc.
(6) Excellent processability ① the molding process can be flexibly selected according to the shape, technical requirements, purpose and quantity of the product. ② The process is simple, can be formed at one time, and the economic effect is outstanding. Especially for the products with complex shape and small quantity that are not easy to form, its process advantages are more prominent. Scope of application vertical FRP storage tanks and FRP containers scope of application: FRP containers are widely used in the fields of chemical industry, petroleum, paper, food, electronics, pharmacy, packaging and transportation. It can resist the corrosion of various acids, alkalis, salts and organic solvents.
